The new object is located at RA 21h 54m 22.72s DEC +15 09'37.8" (2000) which is approximately 5.5"W and 12.5" north of the centre of IC 5145. Tom adds that the suspect is not present on his images from 2003 Aug 16 and Sept 1 limiting mag 19.5) and it is not present on Palomar Sky Survey red (1991.759) or blue plates (1988.768) Tom reported on the evening of Sept 14 that a confirmatory image had been obtained on Sept 14.837UT. We have also received an e-mail from Mark Armstrong reporting that he has made an independent discovery of this object which was recorded on unfiltered CCD images taken on Sep. 13.865 and 14.815 (LM 19.0) with a 0.35-m reflector in the course of the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol. Mark derived end figures: RA 22.73s DEC 37.2" (2000), and estimated the magnitude as 16.3. It was not present on Mark's images of Aug 3 (limit 19.5) and Sept 4 (limit 18.5). The object has been designated Supernova 2003hy and announced on IAUC 8200. Congratulations to both observers on this further success, for Tom his 52nd and for Mark his 46th supernova. SUPERNOVA 2003hv IN NGC 1201 The LOTOSS team have reported on IAUC 8197 their discovery of a bright supernova of about magnitude 12.5 in NGC 1201 initially on an image of Sept 9.5UT. The position is: RA 03h 04m 09.32s DEC -26 05' 07.5" (2000), 17.2"E and 56.7"S of the host galaxy's nucleus. A Dressler has reported that a spectrum of Sept 10.36UT indicates it is of type-Ia. SUPERNOVA 2003hw In ANONYMOUS GALAXY A further LOTOSS apparent supernova detection has been announced on IAUC 8198. This object, of magnitude 18.3, was first recorded on Sept 8.5UT at: RA 03h 01m 50.02s DEC +35 44' 36.4" (2000), 2.9"E and 2.1"N of an anonymous galaxy near UGC 2491. SUPERNOVA 2003hx In NGC 2076 Another LOTOSS supernova discovery has been announced on IAUC 8199. First detected on Sept 12.5UT at magnitude 14.3, its position has been measured as: RA 05h 46m 46.97s DEC -16 47' 00.6" (2000), 5.2"W and 2.6"S of the nucleus of NGC 2076. Guy M Hurst
