The discovery unfiltered CCD image was obtained during the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol using a 0.3-m f/6.3 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The position is: RA 12h 03m 18.15s DEC +44 31' 34.6" (2000) which is 91"E east and 18.6"S of galaxy's centre. It is not recorded on the Digitised Sky Survey blue (1990) or red (1996) plates. Tom Boles, Coddenham, England, has obtained confirmation of the new object recorded on CCD images of Sept 20.173UT using a 0.35-m reflector when he estimated the magnitude as 14.9. The object has been designated supernova 2003ie and announced on IAUC 8205. Congratulations to Ron the discovery of his 10th supernova. OCCULTATION OF TYC 6844-03116-1 BY 27 ENTERPE Jan Manek, Czech Republic, has indicated that the asteroid 27 Enterpe, of magnitude 12.1, will occult the star TYC 6844-03116-1, magnitude 9.7 tonight, 2003 September 23 at 20h 25m UT. The latest predicted path runs due to a north shift over N France and SE England ~20:24.7UT, Belgium ~20:24.9UT, Netherlands ~20:24.9UT and N Germany ~20:25.0UT. However it seems only for observers in England and west France will the star will be high enough to observe the event reliably. The star's position is: RA 18h 19m 29.34s DEC -24 00' 21.26" (2000) The predicted duration is 9.3 seconds and the magnitude drop 2.5.
