Patrick Schmeer, Germany, has reported on VSNET that the object was fainter than 18.5 on Nov 19.5UT but was then recorded on Nov 20.505UT at 14.7. Instrument: University of Iowa, Rigel Telescope (0.37-m Cassegrain). SUPERNOVA 2003jg IN NGC 2997 R. Martin, Perth Observatory, reports the discovery on IAUC 8235, of a magnitude 17 supernova in NGC 2997 on CCD images taken on 2003 Oct. 24.80 and 28.75UT with the 0.61-m Perth/Lowell Automated Telescope in the course of the Perth Automated Supernova Search. J. Biggs, Perth Observatory, reports that three unfiltered exposures taken with the 25-cm Mike Candy Telescope around Oct. 29.778 show the new object at the following position: RA 9h 45m 37.91s DEC -31o 11' 21.0" (2000), 11"E and 6"N of the nucleus. SUPERNOVA 2003jf IN MCG +11-22-9 A. V. Filippenko, R. T. Foley, and B. Swift, University of California, report on IAUC 8234 that inspection of CCD spectra (range 320-1000 nm), obtained on Oct. 28 UT with the Shane 3-m telescope at Lick Observatory, reveals that a noisy spectrum of SN 2003jf suggests that it is a young type-II supernova with a featureless blue continuum. This object was found by Tom Boles and reported on TA E-Circular 1942. SUPERNOVA 2003jb In IC 1065 In the discovery announcement for this object on TA E-Circular 1937, it was incorrectly stated that this represented Ron's 10th supernova discovery. This should have read that it was his 11th find. EI PSC Hazel McGee, Clandon, Surrey, England has reported an outburst of EI Psc seen on Nov 27.817UT at magnitude 12.8 and based on the AAVSO sequence. A 0.355-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope was used. Chris Jones has also reported the star bright. His estimate on Nov 27.826UT was 12.4 using a 0.15-m telescope and based on the Henden sequence. Taichi Kato, Japan, adds that this is the first outburst since the 2001 November outburst detected by Patrick Schmeer). Guy M Hurst
