(Note morning observation). The mid time for Eastern England may be about 05h45mUT although observation should start earlier to allow you to familiarise yourself with the field. The star, of visual magnitude 11.9 is located at: RA 12h 11m 12s DEC +12 58' 06" The predicted duration is 6.9 seconds and the magnitude drop 1.2. SUPERNOVA 2004C IN NGC 3683 C. C. Dudley and J. Fischer of the Naval Research Laboratory have reported the detection of a mag K about 14 object in NGC 3683 on 2004 Jan 12.5UT. The position of the source is: RA 11h 27m 29.72s DEC +56 52'48.2" (2000), 17"W, 10"N of the nucleus of NGC 3683. Tom Matheson et. al., have reported on IAUC 8269 that a spectrum obtained by P. Berlind on Jan. 15.5UT with the F. L. Whipple Observatory 1.5-m telescope (+ FAST spectrograph), shows it to be a type-Ic supernova. Guy M Hurst
