SUPERNOVA 2004aw in NGC 3997 This object, found by Tom Boles and reported on TA E-Circular 1983, had an uncertain classification based on the first spectrum obtained. According to a report by S. Benetti et. al., of Osservatorio Astronomico de Padova on IAUC 8312, a further spectrum of March 24.94UT now indicates it is of type Ia. SUPERNOVA 2004ay IN UGC 11255 Matheson also reports that a spectrum of this object, discovered by Tom Boles and announced on TA E-Circular 1984, was obtained by Berlind on March 26 suggesting it is of type-Iin according to IAUC 8312. DY PERSEI Gary Poyner, Birmingham, reports that this RCB star is fading. On 2004 Apr 6.9UT it was visible at 13.8, compared to mag 12.4 on Mar 17.8UT. Guy M Hurst
