The position is RA 10h 39m 39.30s DEC +25 19'19.9" (2000), approximately 3.4" E and 1.7" S of the centre of NGC 3323. The limiting magnitude of the discovery frame was 19.5. Mark reported that there was no trace of the suspect on his images of 2000 Dec 22 (limit 19.5); 2004 April 13 (limit 19.0); April 19 (limit 19.0) and April 25 (limit 19.0). Marks also adds that it is not recorded on POSS-II red 1997.187 (LM 20.8) and blue 1997.351 (LM 22.5) A second e-mail received on May 17 reported confirmation on May 17.884UT when the object remained at about magnitude 17.0. An initial announcement was made on Electronic Telegram 66 by the Central Bureau and subsequently on IAU Circular 8341 in which the object was designated Supernova 2004bs. Congratulations to Mark on the discovery of his 62nd supernova. Guy M Hurst
