It appeared on multiple images of June 16: 2004 06 16.99722 RA 15h 41m 29.83s DEC +15 47'13.1" Mag 17.5 The object was offset 10.1"W and 2.3"S of the galaxy's nucleus on a frame where the limiting magnitude was 19. S. Park and R. Foley reported on IAUC 8357 LOSS observations via KAIT images obtained on June 15.3, mag 17.7 and June 17.3, mag 17.4. End figures were obtained of: RA 29.71s DEC 12.7" The object was designated supernova 2004ci on IAUC 8357. Congratulations to Mark on the discovery of his 64th supernova. V1647 ORIONIS (= IRAS 05436-0007 = MC'NEILL'S OBJECT NEAR M78) The detection of this object by Jay McNeill was reported on TA E-Circular 1967. N. N. Samus, Institute of Astronomy, Moscow e-mails that the designation V1647 Ori has been assigned to the optical variable associated with this IRAS source. Guy M Hurst
