This was on an unfiltered CCD image obtained with a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope which had a limiting magnitude of 18.2. The position is: RA 20h 22m 21.24s DEC +06 25'50.3" (2000), 5.4"W and 2.3"N of the galaxy's centre. The suspect is not present on Tom's images of 2004 May 5 and Jun 14 (limiting mag 19.5) and it is not present on DSS II red (1990.634) or blue plates (1988.520). In the early hours of July 7, a further e-mail was received which indicated a confirmation image of the suspect had been obtained by Tom. The end figures for Jul 07.031 are RA 21.24s and DEC 50.1". The object has been designated supernova 2004da and announced on IAUC 8370. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 67th supernova. On IAUC 8371, C. L. Gerady et. al., University of Texas at Austin, report a spectrogram of July 8.26UT obtained with the 9.2-m Hobby/Eberly Telescope by M. Shetrone indicates it is a peculiar type-Ia supernova a few days after maximum. V1186 SCORPII = NOVA SCORPII 2004 N. N. Samus, Institute of Astronomy, Moscow, advises that the object announced on TA E-Circular 2015 has now been designated V1186 Scorpii. Guy M Hurst
