A supernova designation was not initially assigned due to the uncertainty of the nature of this object. However subsequently Tom Matheson et. al., Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics advise (on IAUC 8372) that J. Huchra obtained a spectrum on July 10.46UT indicating it is a type-Ia supernova several weeks past maximum.
