This has now been officially recorded on IAUC 8392. The discovery was made on images taken from Coddenham, Suffolk, on Aug. 19.953 and 21.950UT. The discovery magnitude was estimated as 18.1 (unfiltered CCD) and the position is R.A. = 18h18m06s.15, Dec. = +39o49'24".9, which is approximately 2".4 east and 6".3 south of the centre of MCG +07-37-36. Tom notes that the suspect is not present on patrol images obtained on June 27 and May 18 (limiting mag 19.5) and it is not present on DSS II red (1992.484) or blue (1989.505) plates. Tom's discovery image is on the TA website at: http://www.theastronomer.org/supernovae/sn2004dx_20040819_tb.jpg This galaxy is in Lyra and so it is high in the south-west at the end of evening astronomical twilight as seen from the UK.
