The measured position from images of October 6.203UT and 6.89OUT is: RA 02h 20m 34.86s DEC +41 34' 18.5" (2000), 2.1"W and 7.9"S of the centre of the host galaxy. Tom added that the suspect was not present on his images of 2003 Dec 28 and 2004 Sept 15 to a limiting magnitude of 19.5. It was also absent from DSS II red (1987.801 limiting mag 21.0) and blue plates (1989.686 limiting mag 21.5). The object has been designated supernova 2004eu and announced on IAUC 8417. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 78th supernova. SUPERNOVA 2004ev IN ESO 459-G13 Discovery by Puckett and Newton of a possible supernova (IAUC 8417): SN 2004 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Thanks to everyone who supported us on our 40th anniversary meeting and we have received considerable feedback, all positive. I am pleased to say that every speaker has either already submitted or has agreed to provide a summary or detailed article on their talk which we will publish in 'The Astronomer' over the coming months. This should help those who were unable to attend as well as act as a refresher for others who were there on the day. Guy M Hurst
