The new object is located at: RA 08h 50m 04.89s DEC +49 14' 43.8" (2000), which is approximately 0.4"W and 6.5"S of the centre of host galaxy. The suspect is not present on Tom's images of 2003 March 18 and April 25 (limiting mag 19.5) and it is not recorded on DSS II red (1991.119 limiting mag 21.0) or blue plates (1997.097 limiting mag 20.5) A further e-mail was received on November 25 in which Tom reported he had obtained confirmation on Nov 25.959UT when the object was of magnitude 18.1 with end figures: RA 04.92s DEC 43.9". The object has been designated supernova 2004gl and announced on IAUC 8446. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 82nd supernova. SUPERNOVA 2004gk IN IC 3311 Discovery by R.
