SUPERNOVA 2005C IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY
On 2005 January 13 we received an e-mail from Tom Boles of Coddenham, 
England reporting his detection of an apparent supernova of magnitude 
18.4 found on unfiltered CCD images of Jan 11.051UT obtained with a 
0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope during the course of searches for 
the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol.

The object, located in an anonymous galaxy, was confirmed on images of 
Jan 13.036UT. The position is:
RA 11h 15m 29.42s DEC +60 45' 05.5" (2000), 3.0"W and 10.7"N of the 
centre of the host galaxy

The suspect is not present on Tom's images of 2004 Apr 21 and Nov 20 
(limiting mag 19.5) and it is not present on DSS II red (1993.305 
limiting mag 21.0) or blue plates (1994.283 limiting mag 21.5)

The object has subsequently been designated supernova 2005C and 
announced on IAU Circular 8463.

Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 84th supernova.

2005J    Jan.16.40    11 58 28.54  +10 01 09.2 16.5   13.6"E, 7.4"S
Supernova 2004aq also appeared in this galaxy.
