Pojmanski, Warsaw University Astronomical Observatory, reports the discovery, via ASAS (using a 65-mm aperture lens), of a possible nova located at: RA 09h 18m 58s, DEC -29 42' 36" (2000). V magnitudes: Mar 5.26 UT, [14.0; 11.19, 12.0; 14.26, 12.4; 15.00, 12.6; 16.00, 12.8. H. Haseda, Japan has reported on IAUC 8495, his independent discovery on Mar 16.45 at mag 13.3 (0.10-m twin patrol camera), with the following position end figures by K. Itagaki (Teppo-cho, Yamagata, Japan, 0.60-m reflector) from his own unfiltered CCD image taken on Mar. 16.451: 58s.50, 37".0 (red mag 12.8). Hitoshi Yamaoka, Japan, adds that the position is close to the northern component (mag 18) of a double star on the digitised sky surveys. Guy M Hurst
