This was first recorded at magnitude 17.7 on an unfiltered CCD image of 2005 April 11.096UT obtained with a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The new object is located at: RA 16h 49m 44.74s DEC +17 51' 48.7" (2000), 12.0"E and 3.5"S of the centre of host galaxy. The suspect is not present on Tom's images of 2004 May 22 and July 5 (limiting mag 19.5) and it is not visible on DSS II red (1992.334 limiting mag 21.0) nor blue plates (1991.371 limiting mag 20.5) In a further e-mail received on April 12, Tom reported that he had obtained confirmation on an image of April 12.014UT with positional end figures of: RA 44.75s DEC 48.7". The object was designated Supernova 2005bj and announced on IAUC 8511. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 89th supernova. V2361 CYGNI Mike Bode et. al., Liverpool John Moores University have reported V magnitudes of this nova from CCD images obtained with the 2-m Liverpool telescope at La Palma: March 17.23UT, 18.80; 18.21, 18.80; 29.18, 18.55; 30.18, 18.30; April 2.17, 18.38.
