This shows a pre-discovery image of the supernova at magnitude 16.6. He derived the following precise position: 2005cs C2005 06 27.93287 13 29 52.81 +47 10 35.3 16.6 R J95 Peter adds that the derived magnitude, from an unfiltered 50-second exposure, may be heavily comprised by the bright background of the galaxy and may, in reality, be brighter than quoted. A report was immediately sent by the editor to the Central Bureau and this has been published on IAUC 8555. A later report from Mark Armstrong, Rolvenden, England, indicates the supernova was not present on his 60-sec image of June 19 (22.03UT), which was obtained with a C14+ST9XE+ME, to a limit of magnitude 19.0.
