The stellar object, of red magnitude 8.0, is located at: RA 18h 17.9m DEC -30 27' (2000) Bill adds that on his films of June 12 there is nothing in this position brighter than magnitude 11.0. A spectrum taken on July 5.099UT shows H-alpha peaking at about 2.1 times the brightness of the nearby continuum; its FWHM is approximately 970 km/s, while the expansion velocity derived from the sharp P-Cyg line is approximately 1300 km/s. Mike Linnolt, California, has visually confirmed the appearance of a bright stellar object at the position indicated by Liller. He estimate it at V=8.0 using the comps TYC 7392-1127-1 and TYC 7392-980-1 (+Bessell corrections) on 2005 July 05 0630UT. Berto Monard, Pretoria, South Africa, recorded it on July 5.08UT at V=7.4, Rc=7.2. He derived a position of: RA 18h 17m 50.45s DEC -30 26' 35.1" (2000) Subsequently the object has been announced on IAUC 8559 issued today. Guy M Hurst
