A report describing the highlights of this visit will appear in The Astronomer later this year. As a direct result of this visit Lord Rosse has agreed to a one-off sale of a very limited number of duplicate copies of publications and papers from his archives. These include copies of Otto Boeddicker's 1892 'Atlas of The Milky Way', historically important off-prints of the 3rd and 4th Earl's contributions to the Philosophical Transactions of the Royal Society and planetary and cometary papers published in the Scientific Transactions Of The Royal Dublin Society. All these papers can be considered to be extremely rare, and it is the desire of Lord Rosse that they are purchased by professional institutions, professional and serious amateur astronomers and scientific historians. A list of the available items and their prices is available from Andy Stephens UK Tel 01242 675719, or you can email him at nighthawk@glasseyes.fsnet.co.uk . All proceeds will go to fund projects at the Castle, including further restoration of the historic 6 foot speculum, using which the 3rd Earl famously, first detected the spiral structure in galaxies.
