The object, of magnitude 17.9, was recorded on several images (limiting magnitude 20.0) obtained on 2005 Aug 30.08618UT with a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and CCD (no filter) and is located at: RA 22h 44m 46.45s DEC +33 27' 37.6" (2000) Offsets 9".4 east, 0".5 south. There is no trace of the suspect on Mark's master image of 2003 Sep. 21 (LM 19.5) nor on POSS-II red 1991.705 (LM 20.8) or blue 1992.801 (LM 22.5). In a further e-mail of August 30, Mark reports that he has obtained a confirmatory image on 2005 August 30.086UT. A preliminary announcement has been issued on Electronic telegram 208 with the designation SN 2005dq and an IAU Circular is awaited. This will be the 71st supernova found by Mark for which we offer our congratulations on his renewed efforts for the patrol.
