Aspin, Gemini Observatory; and B. Reipurth, University of Hawaii, report on observations made on Aug. 30UT at the Gemini 8-m telescope on Mauna Kea of V1647 Ori a star embedded in McNeil's Nebula (see also TA E-Circular 1967)upon its re-emergence in the morning twilight. The object has faded by approximately one magnitude in r passband since January 8. McNeil's nebula itself has also faded considerably. The duration of the outburst so far exceeds 21 months according to IAUC 8600. SUPERNOVA 2005ea IN MCG +10-16-61 Discovery by D. Lane and P. Gray (Canada) of a possible supernova (IAUC 8600): SN 2005 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2005ea Sept. 6.0 11 06 47.89 +57 41 07.5 17.0 14"W SOHO COMET Further to the observation of a SOHO Comet reported by Anthony Murphy of Ireland, Jonathan Shanklin, Cambridge, relays the comet was first detected by Hua Su, with numerous other people noting it. See: http://ares.nrl.navy.mil/sungrazer/recent.html and http://cfa-www.harvard.edu/mpec/K05/K05S70.html He adds that it looks as if the comet is fading away, though it still had a tail when it entered C2. SUPERNOVA 2005ej IN CGCG 323-004 The above is the up to date designation for the apparent supernova found by Tom Boles and announced on TA E-Circular 2156. Guy M Hurst
