I shall also be away and not contactable from tomorrow morning Oct 28 and will not return until late on Sunday Oct 30. During that period please refer any potential discoveries to Nick James or Denis Buczynski. I will endeavour to catch up on e-mails early next week. QY PERSEI Pavol Dubovsky, Podbiel, Slovakia, has noted a superoutburst of the long period SU UMA star QY Per: 2005 Oct 22.828UT, 14.2v. Patrick Schmeer, Bischmisheim, Germany has subsequently reported confirmation of the outburst on unfiltered CCD images examined from the University of Iowa, Rigel Telescope (0.37-m Cassegrain): 2005 Oct 13.233, [18.2; Oct 21.363UT, 14.4. Patrick adds that the most recently recorded QY Per outburst (a supermaximum) started between 1999 Dec. 23 and 28 (IAUC 7340). V402 ANDROMEDAE Jeremy Shears, Cheshire, England, has reported his detection via unfiltered CCD imaging of a rare outburst of the UGSU star V402 Andromedae (=Var62 And): 2005 Oct 21.856UT, [17.8; 25.889, 16.6; 26.749, 15.7. Gary Poyner, Birmingham, England, adds that this is the first outburst detected since September 2000. During the 2000 outburst several observers reported superhumps and the star peaked at visual magnitude 15.4. Guy M Hurst
