The new object is located at: RA 05h 50m 24.62s DEC+49 43'06.4" (2000) which is approximately 6.3" west and 18.5" north of the centre of UGC 3361. The suspect is not present on Tom's images of 2005 Mar 14 and Oct 10 (limiting mag 19.5) and it is not present on DSS II red (1989.924 limiting mag 21.0), nor blue plates (1992.900 limiting mag 21.5) The object was also independently found by the LOSS team who reported end figures of RA 24.64s DEC 06.5" and offsets 6.1"W and 17.6"N. A. V. Fillippenko et. al., University of California, Berkeley, report that CCD spectra of 2005 Nov 5UT with the Keck I 10-m telescope shows it to be of type II, detected shortly after the explosion. The Central Bureau have designated the object as supernova 2005io and its discovery has been announced on IAUC 8628. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 92nd supernova. Guy M Hurst
