He derived the following precise position from an image of 2005 Dec 9.05236 (limiting magnitude 19.0): RA 02h 54m 15.97s DEC +42 43 29.8" (2000), 6.6"W and 2.9"S of the parent galaxy which itself is at: RA 02h 54m 16s.56 DEC +42o 43' 32".7) Mark finds no minor planet candidate nor entry on the CBAT recent supernova page. There is also no trace on his master from 2003 August 30 (LM 19.5) nor POSS images of 1989.672 (red, limit 20.8) and 1989.678 (blue, limit 22.5). The object was designated supernova 2005ls and announced on IAUC 8643. Congratulations to Mark on the discovery of his 72nd supernova. Guy M Hurst
