The object is located at: RA 00h 09m 21.81s, DEC+54 39' 43.8" (2000) Magnitudes: 2006 Oct.25.54UT, 10.7; 27.41, 10.5; 30.41, 8.8; 31.47, 7.5. Tago adds that a star of mag 11.8 is located very close to the new variable's position and is GSC 3656.1328. The USNO-A2 lists this at red magnitude 11.3. K. Kadota obtained a precise position using a 0.25-m f/5 reflector on 2006 Oct 31.75: RA 00h 09m 22.04s DEC +54d 39'43.8" (2000). Mike Collins, Everton, Bedfordshire, England and surveying for the UK Nova/Supernova Patrol, advises that he has confirmed the brightening and that GSC 3656.1328 and the suspect are one and the same. On digital patrol image pairs of 3 min exposure using Canon 10D camera with FL 85 mm f/1.8 lens taken of Patrol Area 19 the star was of the following magnitudes: 2006 Sep 22.925 UT (mean of frames D69-20,21), mag 11.7 2006 Oct.21.863 UT (mean of frames D70-8,9), mag 10.9 These values fit well with a gradual rise as reported by Tago. Further magnitude estimates: 2006 Oct 31.984UT, 8.7 (Guy M Hurst, 15x80B, Basingstoke) 2006 Nov 01.176UT, 8.7 (Gary Poyner, 10x50B, Birmingham) Guy M Hurst
