Ayani, Bisei Astronomical Observatory (BAO), reports that a spectrum of the new object in Cygnus obtained on March 16.8UT with the BAO 1.01-m telescope shows it to be a nova. David Moore, Astronomy Ireland, has kindly provided links to finder charts for the new object: www.astronomy.ie/images/novacyg80.gif www.astronomy.ie/images/novacyg95.gif Birger Andresen, Trondheim, Norway reports observations of the nova using a NAS.VSS sequence: 2007 Mar 16.999UT, 7.9 (7x50B) 2007 Mar 17.882UT, 8.4 (0.07-m refractor x24) David Branchett, USA, relays he sighted the object on March 18 at 10h05mUT at 8.0 (8x56B). Maurice Gavin, Surrey, imaged the nova on Mar 18.22UT using a Canon 300D + 55mm f/2 lens using a 4.8 second exposure and estimated the magnitude as 7.8. (unfiltered). The following sequence (Refs: TA070318, BAAVSS N/052.01), for which a chart is in preparation at TAHQ, is based on a comparison star list supplied by Mike Simonsen: comp RA, Dec, V GSC ID A 20:33:48.55 41:46:21.6 6.50 3161 1453 B 20:25:25.73 42:36:18.2 6.89 3160 0280 C 20:32:51.64 41:53:54.5 7.08 3161 0779 D 20:27:36.77 42:02:07.5 7.31 3160 1542 E 20:28:30.23 42:00:35.3 7.66 3160 1629 F 20:29:28.38 42:19:00.0 8.01 3160 0762 G 20:29:56.14 41:37:57.1 8.23 3160 0563 H 20:28:28.17 41:57:25.7 8.59 3160 1502 J 20:31:45.32 41:49:14.5 8.93 3161 0765 K 20:28:00.20 42:08:40.2 9.22 3160 1133 L 20:26:28.21 41:49:12.1 9.60 3160 1733 Guy M Hurst
