K. Das, et. al., Physical Research Laboratory, report on CBET 925 that near-infrared J, H, and K spectroscopy of this nova (cf TA E-Circulars 2318 and 2322) obtained with the Mt. Abu 1.2-m telescope (+ PRL Near-Infrared NICMOS3 Imager/Spectrometer) on Mar. 28.927 UT, shows molecular bands of CO in emission in great strength: "These features are rarely seen in emission in novae (e.g., in V705 Cas = N Cas 1993, by Evans et al. 1996, MNRAS 282, 1049). The CO first-overtone bands at 2.2935, 2.3227, 2.3535, and 2.3829 microns are seen, and possibly also the second-overtone bands at 1.5582 and 1.5780 microns. The emission lines of H I Paschen-beta, Pa-gamma, Brackett-gamma, and Br10-Br20, the O I line at 1.129 microns, several lines due to C I, and Na I lines at 2.2056 and 2.2084 microns are seen. The CO bands continue to be detected in spectra taken on Apr. 2.917, but they have practically disappeared in the spectra taken on Apr. 7.896. As this nova appears especially interesting, further observations in the coming months are encouraged."
