Nakano, Japan, reports the discovery of a possible nova of magnitude 9.5 detected by Hiroshi Abe (Yatsuka-cho, Matsue, Shimane-ken, Japan) on images secured with a Canon camera and 35mm f2.8 lens on 2007 August 8.54UT. Nakano has obtained the following precise position: RA 19h 54m 24.3s DEC +20 52' 47" (2000) K. Kadota advises end figures obtained from an exposure of Aug 8.682: RA 24.64s DEC 51.9" (2000) and notes a nearby magnitude 11.8 has end figures of RA 23.95s DEC 30.3". He further notes that a star of red mag 18.1 and blue mag 17.6 in the USNO-A2.0 catalogue has position end figures 24.66s, 51.7". David Branchett, Florida, USA e-mails that he has obtained a confirmatory visual observation on 2007 August 9 (01h08mUT) of magnitude 9.0. Richard Miles advises that under good skies, he obtained two 50 x 4 sec V frames and 40 x 10sec I frames with resultant photometry on TYC stars: 1628-1075 V=8.826 +/- 0.023, V-I=+1.40 1628-0666 V=9.802 +/- 0.013, V-I=+1.18 1628-0130 V=9.496 +/- 0.012, V-I=+0.48 1628-0527 V=10.244 +/- 0.013, V-I=+0.24 1628-1171 V=10.147 +/- 0.021, V-I=+0.14 Errors quoted in V are absolute. Uncertainty in V-I mags ia about +/-0.03 Measures on the candidate nova gave: 2007 August 08 23:20UT Nova Vul V=8.930 +/- 0.012 2007 August 08 23:37UT Nova Vul V=8.910 +/- 0.012 Photometry was performed relative to Hipparcos stars: 97753, 97863, 97889, 97876, 97879, 98169 Guy M Hurst
