On Electronic Telegram No. 1072 issued by the Central Bureau, P. Garnavich and M. Russell, University of Notre Dame, report that they obtained a spectrum with the Kitt Peak 4-m Mayall telescope (+ MARS spectrograph) on Sept. 18.2 UT. The spectrum shows a broad P-Cyg profile of H-alpha and He I 587.5-nm, suggesting that this is a type-II supernova. Narrow emission lines from the host provide a redshift of 0.045. (32008) 2000 HM53 P. Pravec et. al, Ondrejov Observatory and others report on CBET 1078 that photometric observations obtained during Aug. 5-Sept. 14 reveal that minor planet (32008) is a binary system with an orbital period of 40.24hr -- or, less likely, 20.12hr. The primary shows a period of 3.0171 hr, and it has a lightcurve amplitude of 0.19 mag. Mutual eclipse/occultation events indicate a lower limit on the secondary- to-primary mean-diameter ratio of 0.4. Calibrated data give an estimated mean absolute magnitude H_R = 14.17 +/- 0.1, assuming G = 0.15 +/- 0.2.
