The new object is located at: RA 12h 09m 48.33s DEC +58 51' 01.6" (2000), which is approximately 7.6"E and 4.6"N of the centre of NGC 4141. The suspect is not present on Tom's images from 2007 May 29 and 2007 Mar 11 (limiting mag 19.5) and it is not present on DSS II red (1993-05-11 limiting mag 20.5), blue plates (1994-01-16 limiting mag 21.0). In a further message Tom reported that he had succeeded in getting confirmation images of the possible supernova in images of Feb 7.937UT deriving end figures 48.31s and 01.4" and a similar magnitude to discovery night. On CBET 1239, the object was designated supernova 2008X and an independent discovery of 2008X (at mag 17.9) has been reported by D. Madison, W. Li, and A. V. Filippenko, University of California at Berkeley, on an unfiltered KAIT image taken on Feb. 7.52 in the course of the Lick Observatory Supernova Search. They provide position end figures 48.30a, 01.2a (offset 7.8"E, 4.3"N), adding that nothing is present on their archival image from 2007 June 24.23 (limiting mag 19.0). Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 109th supernova. Guy M Hurst
