ANNUAL AWARDS, VOLUME 44
It is once again time to ask for your votes for the best contributors to 
the magazine during the previous volume.

As before two votes are needed:

a) Best contributor to the COVER material in volume 44 (The 'Alan Young' 
award).

b) Best OVERALL contributor to the magazine and 'TA' in general, 
including our WWW site. (The 'George Alcock' award).

It is quite sufficient to send a simple e-mail to the editor with 
appropriate names against (a) and (b) but please send this as soon as 
possible and no later than 2008 August 31.

Discovery by LOSS of a possible supernova (CBET 1413):

SUPERNOVA 2008do IN UGC 8179
Discovery by LOSS of a possible supernova (CBET 1413):
SN      2008 UT      R.A.  (2000.0)  Decl.    Mag.     Offset
2008do  Jun  20.23  13 05 13.48  +31 59 35.4  18.4     9.1"W,23.7"S
The type-Ia supernova 1988K also appeared in UGC 8179.
S. Blondin, Harvard-Smithsonian Center for Astrophysics (CfA), on
behalf of the CfA Supernova Group, reports that a spectrum of June 24 UT 
by G. Armstrong and P. Challis with the Magellan Clay 6.5-m telescope (+ 
LDSS3), shows it to be a young type-II supernova.
