The new object is located at: RA 00h 55m 13.56s DEC +35 26' 26.3" (2000) which is approximately 5.4"W and 22.7"N of the centre of the galaxy UGC 564. Nothing is present at this position on Tom's images of 2007 Sept 14 and Oct 17 (limiting mag 19.5) nor on the Digitised Sky Survey Plates from 1989-09-30 (limiting red mag 20.5), and 1993-09-16 (limiting blue mag 21.0). In a further message of August 4, Tom relayed that he had succeeded in acquiring confirmation images (10) of the apparent supernova in UGC 564. End figures for night two are 13.56" and 26.1" and magnitude 18.3v. The object has been provisionally announced on CBET 1459. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 114th supernova.
