Measurements were taken from a single poor quality trailed image of Aug 5.101UT using a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The new object is located at: RA 02h 04m 36.27s DEC +47 o 56'10.4" (2000), which is approximately 1.2"W and 8.1"S of the centre of the host galaxy. Nothing is present at this position on Tom's images of 2007 Nov 15 or 2008 Jan 27 (limiting mag 19.5) nor on Digitised Sky Survey Plates from 1989-09-2404 (limiting red mag 20.5), and 1989-08-31 (limiting blue mag 21.0). Confirmation was obtained on Aug 6.095UT when the object was of magnitude 18.0v with measured end figures of RA 36.29s and DEC 9.7". The object was designated Supernova 2008er on CBET 1461. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 117th supernova. SUPERNOVA 2008ee IN NGC 307 Discovery by LOSS of a possible supernova (CBET 1440): SN 2008 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag.
