Samus, Institute of Astronomy, Moscow has announced (IAUC 8971) that the probable dwarf nova in Andromeda (see E 2479) has been assigned the designation V466 And. V1309 SCORPII = NOVA SCORPII 2008 N. N. Samus, Institute of Astronomy, Moscow has announced (IAUC 8972) that the new nova in Scorpius (see E 2481) has been assigned the designation V1309 Sco. SUPERNOVA 2008fl IN NGC 6805 G. Pignata et. al, Universidad de Chile; and D. Reichart et. al, University of North Carolina, on behalf of the CHASE project, report the discovery of an apparent supernova on unfiltered images taken with the 0.41-m 'PROMPT 4' telescope located at Cerro Tololo on Sept. 7.19 (at mag approximately 14.9) and 8.17 UT (mag approximately 15.0). The new object is located at R.A. = 19h36m44s.84 Decl. = -37o33'04".5 (equinox 2000.0), which is about 10" west and 11" north of the center of the galaxy NGC 6805. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on July 2.14 and 6.36 (limiting mag 18.0). (CBET 1498) R/2006 S 5 AND R/2007 S 1 C.C. Porco, CICLOPS, Space Science Institute, Boulder, on behalf of the Cassini Imaging Team, reports the detection of a ring arc (designated R/2007 S 1) associated with the small satellite Saturn XLIX (Anthe) and the apparent confirmation of a previously reported ring arc R/2006 S 5 associated with the satellite Saturn XXXII (Methone).Anthe is the likely source of the R/2007 S 1 arc material, and may also be creating structure within the arc. (IAUC 8970) COMET P/2008 R2 (SCOTTI) J.V. Scotti, Lunar and Planetary Laboratory, reports his recovery of comet P/2001 X2 at mag 20.5 on Spacewatch CCD images obtained with the 1.8-m f/2.7 reflector at Kitt Peak, the object showing a coma diameter of 5" and a tail extending 0'.5 in p.a. 272 deg on Sep 5.43.
