G. W. Christie and T. Natusch, Auckland Observatory, report the following precise position for the nova (an average from three images taken with a 0.4-m Schmidt-Cassegrain reflector during Dec.7.36, with the nova at altitude < 10o, its magnitude being R = 9.5-9.9): RA 18h 22m 01.50s +/- 0s.03, DEC -28 02' 39.6" +/- 0".5 (2000). A combination of two spectrograms one taken with AFOSC on Dec. 8.19, and the other taken with TNG (+ DOLORES) on Dec.8.27 -- shows 2008ic to be a type-II supernova few weeks after explosion. SUPERNOVA 2008id IN ANONYMOUS GALAXY Discovery by Pan-STARRS 1 of a possible supernova (CBET 1617): SN 2008 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2008id Nov. 03.44 02 27 46.80 -04 34 47.1 21.2r A spectrum of Nov. 27.38 with the 10-m Keck-2 telescope on Mauna Kea finds it to be a type-Ia supernova at z = 0.26, about 21 days past maximum brightness. SUPERNOVA 2008ie IN NGC 1070 Discovery by the CHASE project of a possible supernova (CBET 1618): SN 2008 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Nakano, Sumoto, Japan, reports the independent discovery of 2008ie at mag 16.9 by Yoji Hirose (Japan) on fourteen unfiltered CCD frames (limiting mag 17.5) taken around Dec. 15.56 UT using a 0.35-m f/6.8 Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. COMETS 208P/McMILLAN AND 209P/LINEAR Comet P/2008 U1 (McMillan) = P/2000 S7 has been given the permanent designation 208P.
