Kadota, Japan has confirmed the object on ten co-added unfiltered CCD frames (limiting mag 18.5) obtained in strong moonlight with a 0.25-m f/5 reflector on Mar. 11.760 (corrected on CBET 1722), yielding mag 16.7 and position end figures 26s.70, 08".4. K. Itagaki, Japan has found a pre-discovery image of 2009at at mag 16.5 on his unfiltered CCD survey frame taken on Mar. 10.621 using a 0.30-m f/7.8 reflector at his Takanezawa station. A. Harutyunyan, Telescopio Nazionale Galileo (TNG) et. al. Istituto Nazionale di Astrofisica, Osservatorio Astronomico di Padova, report on CBET 1722 that a spectrogram obtained on Mar. 14.00 UT shows it to be a young type-II supernova.
