It has been recorded on unfiltered CCD images taken on 2009 May 30.050UT and 30.990UT with a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. The new object is located at: RA 14h 06m 05.80s DEC +11 47' 13.9" (2000), which is approximately 10.7" W and 6.4" S of the centre of PGC 50294. Nothing is present at this position on Tom's images of 2004 Mar 1 and May 22 (limiting mag 19.5) nor on the Digitised Sky Survey Plates from 1989-04-08 (limiting red mag 20.5), and 1988-05-13 (limiting blue mag 21.0). Following an appeal by the Central Bureau for further results, M. Nissinen and V.-P. Hentunen, Finland) reported on CBET 1821 (along with Tom's discovery details) that CCD images (limiting red mag 19.0) -- obtained remotely with a 0.30-m telescope at the RAS Observatory near Mayhill, NM, U.S.A., on May 31.18 -- yield magnitude R = 17.2 for 2009fi and position end figures 05s.81, 14".1 (offset 10".1 west, 5".9 south). The object has been designated Supernova 2009fi. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 121st supernova. SUPERNOVA 2009ds IN NGC 3905 Discovery by Koichi Itagaki, Japan of a possible supernova (CBET 1784): SN 2009 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Following an appeal from the Central Bureau, W. Wells of Oklahoma writes that his 300-s unfiltered CCD image obtained remotely with a 0.30-m Dall-Kirkham Cassegrain telescope near Mayhill, NM, USA, reveals mag 16.4 and position end figures 04s.2, 45".1. Nothing is visible at this position on archival images taken on Apr. 8.39 (limiting mag 18.5) and 21.36 (limiting mag 19.0). Guy M Hurst
