The discovery instrument was a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain with an unfiltered CCD and the object was magnitude 17.3 on Aug 21.00UT. The object was confirmed on an image of Aug 22.00UT and is located at: RA 15h 55m 31.06s DEC +41 56' 54.0" (2000), 0.8"E and 8.0"S of the centre of the host galaxy. Nothing is present at this position on Tom's images of 2006 Apr 5 and 2006 Jun 30 (limiting magnitude 19.5) nor on Digitised Sky Survey Plates from 1991-04-09 (limiting red mag 21.0), and 1988-05-14 (limiting blue mag 20.5). The object has been designated supernova 2009ih in an announcement on CBET 1919. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 122nd supernova.
