Parson, Minnesota, USA has reported on AAVSO Special Notice 169 his visual detection of an outburst of BC UMa, a high-amplitude, infrequent outbursting dwarf nova located at: RA: 11:52:15.90 , Dec: +49:14:42.0 On 2009 Sept 30.4396UT he noted the visual magnitude as 11.7. According to the AAVSO the most recent preceding observation submitted was <15.4 on 2009 August 15.136 by Hazel McGee, Guildford, England. Patrick Schmeer, Germany reports confirmation on Sept 30.785UT when he noted a visual magnitude of 11.6 using a 0.20-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope. THE ASTRONOMER ANNUAL MEETING ON 2009 OCTOBER 24 Due to continued commitments to our son Mark who has just re-entered Southampton hospital, the editor has not yet been able to fully process bookings and send initial acknowledgements but hopes to do so early next week. Given concern about the post, it may be possible for those who booked and whose cheques were received up until Sept 22 to check their bank account as the relevant cheques were banked on that date.
