Jenniskens, SETI Institute, reports on CBET 2357 that elevated rates of the June Bootid meteors were predicted for 2010 June 23-24 in calculations by J. Vaubaillon and P. Jenniskens, when the earth was calculated to cross the 1836, 1830, 1825, and 1819 dust ejecta of comet 7P/Pons-Winnecke at June 23d22h40m, 24d00h07m, 24d01h22m, and 24d03h53m UTC, respectively. A 94-percent-lit moon in Sco made for poor observing conditions. Subsequently, several observers have reported significant June Bootid activity in low-light-level video observations, lasting from about June 23d22h until June 24d06h UT. Rates peaked at a zenith hourly rate of 5 +/- 2 meteors/hr. SUPERNOVA 2010dq IN NGC 57 Discovery by Koichi Itagaki of a possible supernova (CBET 2303): SN 2010 UT R.A. (2000.0) Decl. Mag. Offset 2010dq Jun 3.71 00 15 29.70 +17 19 41.0 17.3 17 "W, 1 "S Itagaki then found a pre-discovery image of 2010dq at mag 18.0 on an unfiltered CCD frame (limiting mag 18.5) that he had taken on 2010 May 31.748. Itagaki has posted images of 2010dq at website URL http://www.k-itagaki.jp/images/psn57.jpg. P. Challis et. al., report that CCD spectra obtained on June 17UT with the 6.5-m MMT at Mount Hopkins, show it to be a type-Ia supernova then three days after maximum.
