The object was first detected on 2010 Aug 19.058 on multiple images using a 0.35-m Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope and was located at: RA 02h 00m 24.84s DEC +24 34' 43.3" (2000), which is approximately 19.8"E and 6.7"S of the centre of the host galaxy. Nothing is present at this position on Tom's images of 2005 Aug 28 (limit 19.5) and 2008 Feb 10 (limit 19.5) nor on Digitised Sky Survey Plates from 1991 Oct 9 (limiting red mag 20.5), and 1988 Oct 7 (limiting blue mag 21.0). The absolute magnitude was faint but perhaps due to obscuration. He also enlisted the assistance of J. Brimacombe, Cairns, Australia who, using a remotely operated 50-cm reflector (+ STL6K camera + clear filter) at New Mexico Skies Observatory, Mayhill, NM, U.S.A., confirmed the object on Aug. 20.393 (limiting mag 20.5), yielding position end figures 24s.84 +/- 0s.01, 43".7. After consultation with various professionals, the object has been announced on CBET 2423 by Dan Green and designated supernova 2010ha. Congratulations to Tom on the discovery of his 133rd supernova. Fynbo, Dark Cosmology Center, Niels Bohr Institute, Copenhagen University, on behalf of N. B. Andreasen, S. J. Jakobsen, and C. Heje Groenbech, DARS Summer School, report on optical spectroscopy with the Nordic Optical Telescope on Aug. 11.9 UT. The fully reduced spectrum shows this object to be a young type-Ia supernova at, or slightly before, maximum light. Guy M Hurst
