Nakano relates on IAU Circular 9183 that K. Ikeya was also visually hunting for comets on 2010 Nov. 1.8 UT, but nothing was visible at the comet's position to visual magnitude 9-10, despite the fact that his sky conditions were better on Nov. 1.8 than on Nov. 2.8. Recent visual magnitude estimates (IAUC 9176): Nov. 4.23 UT, 7.6, 5' (J. J. Gonzalez, Spain, 10x50 binoculars); Nov. 4.50, 9.0, 3' (A. Hale, NM, 10x50 binoculars; low altitude, zodiacal light) Nov. 4.52, 7.4, 4' (C. W. Hergenrother, U.S.A., 30x125 binoculars) Editor: It is possible that the visual estimates may mean the comet is considerably brighter than the above ephemeris may suggest. Guy M Hurst
