After an appeal by the Minor Planet Centre, other astrometrists have noted a cometary appearance. A. Sergeyev, Ukraine and A. Novichonok, Russia write that images taken with a 1.5-m f/8 reflector at the Majdanak Observatory in Uzbekistan on Dec. 11.0 show a teardrop-shaped, very diffuse coma of diameter 6" and of total magnitude 19.1. The CBAT Observable Comets webpage suggests the comet might reach naked eye visibility in the second half of 2011 though it will also be near the Sun.
