SUPERNOVA 2011A IN NGC 4902 (CHASE) 2011A Jan 2.30 13 01 01.19 -14 31 34.8 16.9 21.3"E, 46.5"S SNe 1979E and 1991X also appeared in NGC 4902. M. Stritzinger, Oskar Klein Centre, Stockholm University et. al., report that they obtained optical spectra on Jan. 4.2 and 4.7 UT with the du Pont telescope (+ WFCCD) and the Gemini North telescope (+ GMOS). This variable appears to be a type-IIn supernova, most similar to supernova 2005cl. SUPERNOVA 2011B IN NGC 2655 (Itagaki see TA E-Circular 2709) SUPERNOVA 2011C IN UGC 6311 (CHASE) 2011C Jan 5.30 11 17 54.88 -02 05 45.2 15.8 1.4"W, 14.4"S Dave Balam, Dominion Astrophysical Observatory, National Research Council of Canada et. al., report that a spectrogram obtained on Jan. 8.58 UT with the 1.82-m Plaskett Telescope of the National Research Council of Canada, shows it to be a type-Ia supernova, then about one week past maximum light. Cross-correlation with a library of supernova spectra indicates that 2011C is most similar to the type-Ia supernova 2003cg at 6 days past maximum. Guy M Hurst
