NEW SATELLITES OF JUPITER:  S/2011 J 1 AND S/2011 J 2
S. S. Sheppard, Department of Terrestrial Magnetism, Carnegie
Institution of Washington, reports the discovery of two new satellites
of Jupiter on CCD images obtained with the Magellan-Badde 6.5-m
telescope at Las Campanas Observatory

N. Elias-Rosa: spectrum Jan 22 type-Ic and similar to that of SN 1996bx
a couple of weeks after explosion.

SUPERNOVA 2012R IN ESO 385-12 (CHASE)
2012R   Jan  5.32   14 21 14.21  -36 13 10.7  17.2  16.4"W,  25.0"N
N. Morrell: spectrum Jan 16 evolved type-II supernova similar to several
type-II-P events two months after maximum.

SUPERNOVA 2012S (CSS)
2012S   Jan 26.17   01 49 47.70  +31 44 49.6  17.2   5.3"W,  12.7"N
S. Valenti: spectrum Jan 27 type-II similar to SN 2004et a few days
after the explosion.
G. H. Marion: spectrum Jan 27 type-IIP near but after maximum.

SUPERNOVA 2012T IN NGC 5421 (A. KROES)
2012T   Jan 26.47   14 01 41.69  +33 49 33.9  17.4   3.5"E,   3.4"S
G. H. Marion: spectrum Jan 27 type-Ia before maximum.
The most recently reported brightness (mag 17.4 on Jan. 26 by Puckett)
is about 1.5 magnitudes below the expected brightness for a normal
type-Ia supernova at maximum.
