Andrea Pastorello reported that a spectrum on Sept 30 suggested it was a LBV and the object was designated PSN J10081059+5150570. To date 37 magnitude estimates/measures have been received showing the object brightened substantially after discovery with a maximum of about magnitude 14.1 on 2011 Nov 22. The absolute magnitude of -17 was too bright for a LBV and it was renamed supernova 2011ht. (See also TA E-Circular 2782). On 2012 February 11, Guy Hurst obtained an image with the Bradford Robotic Telescope showing it near magnitude 18.1 after the previous result on Feb 1 was 15.4. Martin Mobberley imaged it on Feb 24 and astrometry confirmed it to be the object found by Tom Boles in September last year. This may be due to a dust event but it would be worth monitoring in case of a re-brightening. SUPERNOVA 2012aa (LOSS) 2012aa Jan 29.56 14 52 33.48 -03 31 54.0 17.7 0.1"E, 1.6"S J. M.
