Malesani, DARK Cosmology Centre, University of Copenhagen et. al., report on their monitoring of the afterglow of the gamma-ray burst GRB 120422A (located at RA 09h 07m 38.38s DEC +14 01' 07.5" (2000) in the i-band on 2012 Apr. 22.3 UT. On Apr. 30.90 the afterglow was found to have re-brightened to i = 21.3. Subsequent spectroscopy and comparison with a library of supernova spectra using the "Supernova Identification" tool gives good matches with both type-Ib and type-Ic supernovae at about a week before maximum.
