The images were secured on 2012 Oct 22 at 10:28UT and the coordinates are: RA 04h 23m 29s DEC +17 58' 29" (+/-10") This position is 2.23 arcmin south of the star GSC 1268-1045; and although this faint, magnitude 13 star does not appear on the discovery images, it is not believed to be the new object. Follow-up observations, especially spectroscopy are very desirable to confirm the presence and nature of the new star. Images to help locate the new star are available here: http://www.astro.utoronto.ca/~shelton/tau-nova/ Editor: Aside from images of confirmation, if anyone has recent shots of the Hyades and suspects the present of this star please e-mail them to the editor with supporting details.
