Benetti et.al., report noisy optical spectrogram of Mar. 22.84 UT shows SN 2013am is a young (few days after explosion) type-II supernova. Martin Mobberley reports to TAHQ: Using AIP4Win and the Trondal sequence I derived a rough CR mag value of 15.5 unfiltered for March 23.379 UT, but clearly, as with all SNe on top of a luminous galaxy background, this can only be an approximate estimate.
