It was initially recorded on an unfiltered CCD image taken on 2013 Apr 29.9539UT using a 0.35-m f/6 Schmidt Cassegrain Telescope and SXVF H9 CCD camera. The object was also recorded on several subsequent images to a limiting unfiltered magnitude of 19.0. Precise position: RA 11h 34m 36.49s DEC +54° 53' 24.4" (2000) Offsets from galaxy: 5" W 5" S. Mag 18.1V (unfiltered) The object is not visible on the Digitised Sky Survey POSS II Blue plate (1994 Apr 14) LM ~19.2 or the POSS II Red plate (1993 Apr 25) LM ~ 20.0 or listed on CBAT's Minor Planet Checker. Joseph Brimacombe, Cairns, Australia detected the variable on 2013 Apr 30.292UT on 6x15 min images using a luminance filter. Astrometry: RA 11 34 36.45 Dec +54 53 23.2 Photometry: 18.01 +/- 0.31 L (V for ref) Further informationat: http://www.flickr.com/photos/43846774@N02/8697915330/ Nick James reports confirmation of a new optical object on an exposure of 2013 Apr 30.852 which is not on the DSS at: RA 11h 34m 36.39s DEC +54 53 23.2 (2000.0) at mag 17.4 (unfiltered ST9XE + C11). UCAC-3 Spectroscopic confirmation as to the nature of the object is awaited before the Central Bureau can assign a supernova designation but further optical measurements would be welcomed. Guy M Hurst
