ASASSN-13AK: NEW CATACLYSMIC VARIABLE
K. Z. Stanek, Ohio State report on 'The Astronomer's Telegram 5082
that during the ongoing All Sky Automated Survey for SuperNovae (ASAS-SN or
"Assassin"), using data from the double 14-cm "Brutus" telescope in
Haleakala, Hawaii, we discovered a new transient source:

ASASSN-13ak was present in images obtained 2013 UT May 23.46 but undetected
(V > 17) on 2013 UT May 2.5 and earlier (we had a gap in our May 2013 time
coverage due to a technical problem). Vizier reveals an optical source with
B = 19.8 detected 0.6" from our ASAS-SN position in the USNO-B1 catalog
(there is also a 0.6" SDSS match with a blue, g=19.9 star).  There are no
galaxies near the position of ASASSN-13ak. ASASSN-13ak is a likely CV in
outburst.

E. Y. Hsiao: near-infrared spectrogram Apr. 3 type-IIb supernova past
maximum light.  Similar to SN 2011dh at 12 days past maximum.

SUPERNOVA 2013be IN IC 3573 (THU-NOAC TRANSIENT SURVEY)
2013be  Apr  5.70   12 36 27.67  +11 34 18.1  19.6   7.1"E    4.9"S
J. M. Silverman: spectrum Apr 8 type-Ia supernova a few days to one week
before maximum brightness.

SUPERNOVA 2013bf (THU-NOAC TRANSIENT SURVEY)
2013bf  Mar 28.50   08 58 36.07  +54 19 25.7  18.8   3.4"W    2.7"N
J. M. Silverman: spectrogram heavily contaminated with early-type (E/S0)
host-galaxy light, Apr. 8 with the 9.2-m Hobby-Eberly Telescope shows
type-Ia supernova a few days after maximum.
